Sometimes the schoolkids get to watch Mr R and Mr F play soccer, and go to the mall on the way back. On our walk on Saturday, we found a computer keyboard. It was like treasure!

For the last two years, Ruel has been blessed with two amazing people - John and Angela Paton from New Zealand, who have just returned home for the foreseeable future. They filled so many roles and did so many things, it will take some time to get used to being without them. Their contribution to the life of Ruel cannot be overstated.

I (David) have been here three months, and as I've been learning how things work, I always felt a sense of confidence and security when they were here, knowing that the place was in good hands when Pauline was away.

John has been the "Mr Fix-It" around the place, which is an invaluable person to have. He did a lot of driving to pick supplies and foreign volunteers. He looked after the birds and took care of the money. He made kites and flew them with the kids. He gave them haircuts when they needed one.

Angela was a caregiver supervisor. She checked the medicine and supplies, as well as ordering and buying food. She took kids to the doctor and the hospital, and always engaged them with music. She even took extra time to teach Spanish to some of the kids who are being adopted to a Spanish-speaking country.

This is just a summary, and there are so many other ways they have contributed to make Ruel Foundation a fantastic place to be.

Introducing The Kids of Ruel Foundation

Visitors to our blog and Facebook page would have seen lots of photos of our kids, but I thought it would be a good idea to introduce all the kids of Ruel more "formally", with a little bit of information (within our privacy policy of course).

In 2014 we have had three departures (two international adoptions and one returned to his biological family) and six new arrivals. We currently care for 29 children from one week to 10 years old.

2014 Departures:


This is Miss J. She is 10 years old and she went to live with her Forever Family in California in February 2014. 



This is Mr J. He is 6 years old and he went to live with his Forever Family in Canada at the start of April 2014.



This is Baby M. He joined us at Ruel in December for health reasons, and returned to his biological family in April 2014

This is Baby C. He is 4 months old and he has been with us at Ruel since February 2014

This is Baby L. He is 5 months old and he has been with us at Ruel since February 2014



This is Baby J. She is 3 months old and she has been with us at Ruel since April 2014



This is Baby M. He is one week old and has just joined us at Ruel. His mother brought him to us because she just could not look after him.

This is Mr B. He is 3 years old. He was first at Ruel in 2013 for his first cleft palate operation, and returned in April 2014 for follow-up surgery.

This is Miss P. She is 8 years old and she has been with us at Ruel since April 2014.
